Apache Tomcat, often referred to as Tomcat Server, is an open-source Java Servlet Container developed by the Apache Software Foundation. Tomcat implements several Java EE specifications including Java Servlet, JavaServer Pages (JSP), Java EL, and WebSocket, and provides a "pure Java" HTTP web server environment in which Java code can run.

 XenApp is application virtualization software produced by Citrix Systems that allows Windows applications to be accessed via individual devices from a shared server or cloud system.

XenDesktop is a desktop virtualization software platform that allows multiple users to access and run Microsoft Windows desktops that are installed at a centralized location separate from the devices from which they are being accessed.

MySQL is an open source Relational Database Management System (RDBMS) based on Structured Query Language (SQL).

IBM DB2 is a relational DBMS with integrated support for a number of NoSQL capabilities, including XML, graph store and Java Script Object Notation (JSON). Used by organizations of all sizes, DB2 provides a data platform for both transactional and analytical operations as well as continuous availability of data to keep transactional workflows and analytics operating efficiently.

 On the APPLICATION DASHBOARD page, you can view the monitoring parameters for the Tomcat by Apache, XenApp and XenDesktop by Citrix, My SQL, and IBM DB2.

Select the required Dashboard from the Dashboard drop-down.

titleApache Tomcat

Pre-Requisites:

  • Make sure that Java 1.8 is installed in the Proxy Server.
To view Apache Tomcat Dashboard:
  1. Select Operations > User > Servers > Application Dashboard.
  2. On the APPLICATION DASHBOARD page, select the Dashboard as Apache Tomcat and specify the Tenant and Refresh Page In value. The Tomcat Details available under the selected Tenant are displayed.

  3. To view the graph for a specific parameter, click any point in the graph of the respective parameter. The PERFORMANCE pop up page is displayed.
    You can also view the graph for a specific parameter by clicking on the parameter name displayed above each graph (such as Bytes Sent).

    You can perform the following actions in the PERFORMANCE pop up page:

    • Enable or disable Threshold for a parameter by clicking on the Enabled/Disabled button. The threshold can be enabled or disabled for a single parameter, and only if a single metric is selected under Available Metrics.
    • Click the respective time period to View performance graph for any time period (1 day, 7 days, 1 month, 6 months, and Custom).
    • Select the parameter under Resources to view the performance graphs for the Available metrics. Select the parameter under Resources to view the performance graphs for the Available metrics. You can view the performance graphs for single parameters with single resources.
    • View detailed graph (polling interval level) by zooming in. The detailed graph can be viewed only if a single parameter is selected. To zoom in, select an area of the graph.

To view Citrix XenApp and XenDesktop Dashboard:
  1. Select Operations > User > Servers > Application Dashboard.
  2. On the APPLICATION DASHBOARD page, select the Dashboard as Citrix XenApp and XenDesktop and specify the Tenant and Refresh Page In value. The Tomcat Details available under the selected Tenant are displayed.

  3. To view the graph for a specific parameter, click any point in the graph of the respective parameter. The PERFORMANCE pop up page is displayed.
    You can also view the graph for a specific parameter by clicking on the parameter name displayed above each graph (such as Registration Requests).

To view MySQL Dashboard:

Monitor Status of the Meraki devices

To monitor Status of the Meraki devices and get alert and incident for down devices, follow the below steps: 

Procedure

  1. Click Operations> Servers> Application Dashboard.
  2. Select Meraki as Dashboard.

  1. Under Servers, a tree structure lists the networks’ name, and subsequent tabs list Wireless, Network-Wide, Security, and Switches.
  2. Navigate the tabs on the tree structure to find the desired device.

When you click on the device, it displays device name, device status along with the top 5 downtime details.

Meraki Clients Device Usage

Monitor Meraki Clients of each device and its usage to get the list of clients, its usage and alert and incident for threshold violations.

Procedure

To monitor Meraki Clients Device usage, perform the following steps:

  1. Click Operations> Servers> Application Dashboard
  2. Select Meraki as Dashboard

  3. Under Servers, a tree structure lists the networks’ name, and subsequent tabs list Wireless, Network-Wide, Security, and
  4. Clicking on Network-Wide provides all client usage details for the day.
  5. 539pxClient’s device Description, MAC address, Usage in Kilobytes, IP Address, Network that the client is Connected To and its VLAN ID is populated on the page.

The Client Details page also lists the total number of records (client devices recorded), number of result pages and provides the option to change the number of display items on the particular page.


Meraki VLAN List, Per port VLAN List and Static Routes

To monitor Meraki VLAN List, Per port VLAN List and Static Routes to get the list of VLANs, Port VLANS and static routes list and its status.

Procedure

To monitor Meraki VLAN ports and static routes, perform the following steps

  1. Operations> Servers> Application Dashboard
  2. Select Meraki as Dashboard
  3. Under Servers, a tree structure lists the networks’ name, and subsequent tabs list Wireless, Network-Wide, Security, and
  4. Clicking on Security populates a grid with all Subnet Details page with tabs for VLAN Details, Per-Port Details, and Static Route Detail

VLAN Details tab has a table with ID, VLAN Name, subnet Information, MX IP

Per-Port Details tab has a table with Port serial number, Enabled (True/False), VLAN type, VLAN Name, Allowed VLANs.

Meraki Access Points Usage

To monitor Meraki Access Points Usage to get alerts and incidents for threshold violations.

Procedure

To monitor the Meraki Access points, perform the following steps:

  1. Click Operations> Servers> Application Dashboard.
  2. Select Meraki as Dashboard.
  3. Under Servers, a tree structure lists the networks’ name, and subsequent tabs list Wireless, Network-Wide, Security, and Switches.
  4. Clicking on Wireless provides data of all access points.
  5. Navigate on the tree structure to find the desired access point.

When you click on an access point, it displays the access point name, server status along with the top 5 downtime details.

Meraki Switch Usage

To monitor Meraki Switch usage to get alert and incident for threshold violations.

Procedure

To monitor the Meraki switch usage, perform the following steps:

  1. Click Operations> Servers> Application Dashboard.
  2. Select Meraki as Dashboard
  3. Under Servers, a tree structure lists the networks’ name, and subsequent tabs list Wireless, Network-Wide, Security, and
  4. Navigate on the tree structure to find the desired switch
  5. Clicking on Switches populates a grid with all Switches’ details.
  6. When you click on a Switch, it displays switch name, switch status along with the top 5 downtime details.

Meraki Switch Port usage

To monitor Meraki Switch Port usage to get alert and incident for threshold violations.

Procedure

To monitor the Meraki switch port usage, perform the following steps:

  1. Operations> Servers> Application Dashboard
  2. Select Meraki as Dashboard.
  3. Under Servers, a tree structure lists the networks’ name, and subsequent tabs list Wireless, Network-Wide, Security, and Switches.
  4. Navigate on the tree structure to find the desired switch.
  5. Clicking on the Switch expand (+) sign lists all the interfaces or ports.
  6. Clicking on the desired switch port populates the page with all Switch Port details.

When you click on a Switch Port, it displays port status, the port name under port details.
