On the SNMP BASED MONITORING page, you can map the parameter name, device type to a display area, and group name. This allows you to specify the display area and the group name for the monitored parameter values to display. You can also specify the SNMP details to get the final output by parsing or formula method. Based on this configuration, the specified arguments are passed for the selected SNMP name, and the output is calculated using the specified method. The output is displayed for the parameter on the selected group name.  

To map SNMP Monitoring details:

  1. Select Admin > Advanced > Discovery & Monitoring > SNMP Based Monitoring.
  2. On the  SNMP BASED MONITORING page, specify the required details. For more information about the fields on the SNMP BASED MONITORING page see, Field Description.
  3. Click SUBMIT.

Field Description

The following table describes the fields on the SNMP BASED MONITORING page.

Fields

Description

Parameter Type

Select the Parameter Type from the list:

  • Existing: Select the option if you want to choose an already configured Parameter.
  • New: Select the option to configure new Parameters for the Script.

Device Type

Lists the Device Types such as Networks, Servers,and so on. Select the Entity Type from the list.

Parameter Name

The Parameter Name is displayed as drop-down box, if the Parameter Type is selected as Existing. The existing parameters are listed in the drop-down. Select a parameter name from the list.

The Parameter Name is displayed as Text box,if the Parameter Type is selected as New. Enter the Parameter Name.

Display Area

Select the display area from the list:

Existing: Select the option,if you want to display the parameter on an existing tab.

New: Select the option,if you want to display the parameter on new tab.

Group Name

Lists the existing tabs for the selected Device Type. Select the group name from the list to display the parameters. This option is displayed if the Display Area is selected as Existing.

New Group Name

Type in the name for the new tab. This option is displayed if the Displayed Area is selected as New.

Output Type

Select the output type from the list:

  • Utilization Percentage: If the option is selected, the utilization percentage of the parameter is displayed.
  • Utilization Value: If the option is selected, the utilization value of the parameter is displayed.  
  • Availability: If the option is selected, the availability of the parameter is displayed.

Display Type

Select the display type from the list:

  • Single: Select the option, if output is single line text.
  • Multiple: Select the option, if output is multiple line text.
  • Table Value: Select the option, if output is a tabular value.
  • Free Form: Select the option, if output is in Free form.

Note: The Display Type is displayed if the Output Type is selected as Utilization Percentage or Utilization Value.

Retry Count

Specify the count to execute the MIB again, if the execution of the MIB fails.

Maximum Wait Time (sec)

Specify the waiting time for the output.

Active

Indicates the status for the SNMP based Monitoring configuration details.

  • If selected, the configured SNMP based monitoring details is active.
  • If cleared, the configured SNMP based monitoring details  is inactive.

SNMP

SNMP Name

Lists the configured SNMP names. Select a SNMP name from the list.  

Argument Name

Lists the configured Argument names.

Execution Order

Specify the execution order for the SNMP details.

Data Source

Select the Data Source for the argument:

  • Fixed Attribute: Select this option to select the value of the device for the argument. This is selected if the argument has a dynamic value. Select this option to select the value of the device for the parameter. This is selected if the parameter has a dynamic value.
  • Fixed Input: Select this option to define the value for the argument. This is selected if the argument has a static value. Select this option to define the value for the parameter. This is selected if the parameter has a static value.

Fixed Attribute

If the Data Source is selected as Fixed Attribute, the  Fixed Attribute field is displayed. Select the Data Value Field from the list.

Fixed Input

If the Data Source is selected as Fixed Input, the Fixed Input field is displayed. Type in the Fixed input for the parameter.

Use For Output

Select the check box to use the parsed value for output.

Add Argument

Click the button to add the selected arguments for monitoring.

Add SNMP

Click the button to add the selected SNMP details for monitoring.

Clear

Click the button to reset the selected values.

Edit

Click the Edit button to edit the selected SNMP details.

SNMP Name

Displays the configured SNMP Name.

Order

Displays the configured order.

Use For Output

Displays if the parsed value is used for output.

Delete

Click the icon to delete the configured script.

Use for Formula Output

Displays if the Formula Output is selected. If the value is true, the formula output is selected.
If the value is false, the formula output is not selected.

OUTPUT VALUE

SNMP List

Displays the list of configured SNMP details. Select the SNMP detail, you want to add to the formula.

Delimiter List

Displays the list of Delimiters such as @ Current time, @ Previous Count, @ Previous Time, and so on. Select the delimiter which you want to add to the formula.  The values of the delimiters are auto-calculated.

Write Formula

Enter the components of the formula by selecting the delimiters, and defined keys for the formula. Type in the arithmetic symbols for the formula.

ACTIONS

This section explains all the icons displayed on the ACTIONS panel of the SNMP BASED MONITORING page:

Filters

Click the Filters icon to specify a particular filter criteria to display the configured SNMP MIB details. On clicking the Filters icon, Select the Tenant from the list to view the configurations for the selected Tenant.

SHOW LIST

Click SHOW LIST to display the LIST table showing all the configured SNMP MIB for monitoring for the selected filter criteria.

  • To modify a SNMP MIB based Monitoring, click the configured Parameter Name. Make appropriate changes and click SUBMIT.
  • Click the Include Inactive check box to view the inactive MIB details .
  • In the Schedule Job column, you can view the status of the job for the corresponding parameter. Click the Schedule Job hyper link to view and modify the configured job details for the corresponding parameter name.

Note:

When the configured SNMP MIB based Monitoring are displayed under the LIST table, the ADD NEW action is displayed on the ACTIONS panel. Click ADD NEW to configure a new SNMP MIB based monitoring details.

SNMP MIB

Click the SNMP MIB icon to configure SNMP MIBs for add parameters for monitoring. On clicking the SNMP MIB icon, the SNMP MIB page is displayed. For more information about configuring SNMP MIBs see, Configuring SNMP.

THRESHOLDS

Click the THRESHOLDS icon to configure the threshold values for the parameter. On clicking the THRESHOLDS icon, the SCRIPT/SNMP THRESHOLDS page is displayed.  For more information about configuring Script/SNMP threshold see, SummitAI IT Operations Management Online Help.

SCHEDULE JOB

Click the SCHEDULE JOB icon to configure custom scheduler details for a Script or SNMP MIB. On clicking the SCHEDULE JOB icon, the CUSTOM SCHEDULER (SCRIPT/SNMP) page is displayed. For more information about configuring Custom Scheduler (SNMP) see, SummitAI IT Operations Management Online Help.

SERVICE ENTITLEMENT
