Symphony SummitAI is informing you that Alps Release family has reached End-Of-Support state starting from Sep 1, 2022. This change is in accordance with the SummitAI Products End-of-Life (EOL) Policy.
An alternate option is to upgrade to the latest SummitAI Tahoe SP3 Release that will provide you rich feature-set.
What is Orchestration?
Orchestration (previously called as Runbook Automation (RBA)) refers to technologies used to achieve operational IT efficiency by streamlining Orchestration procedures by automating many of the daily manual tasks. Orchestration helps organizations by reducing manual tasks, which are time consuming and also prone to human-error issues, provides a more efficient workflow through automation, and reduces operational costs while still meeting IT service levels and compliance.
SummitAI Orchestration is designed to automate System and Network operational processes, while interacting with infrastructure elements, such as applications, database, and hardware. Orchestration also enables work flows to automate defined processes. These work flows can be used directly to resolve Incidents or execute Change or Release processes or to automate any other manual tasks that the IT Operations team performs regularly.
Examples:
- Creation/ Deletion of a User/Mailbox
- Shutting Down/Restarting a Server/ Service
- Installation/Uninstallation of any Software
- Addition/ Removal of a VM
- Configuration of Access List
Configuring Orchestration
The Administrators can configure Orchestrations for Incidents and Service Requests (SRs). In Orchestration, a condition is defined. If this condition is met, the defined Orchestration Scripts are executed. This does not require any manual intervention from the Analysts and the actions are performed by the Orchestration Scripts if the pre-condition is met. For more information about configuring Orchestration, see Configuring Runbook Automations.
Configuring Orchestration Scripts
Orchestration Scripts need to be configured so that Analysts can execute the scripts on the Configuration Items (CIs). The configured Scripts are used in Orchestration. The Administrators need to configure the Scripts, specify the target platform, and add commands that need to be executed through the Script. For more information about configuring Orchestration Scripts, see Configuring Runbook Scripts.
Accessing the Feature
The Analysts can view the Orchestrations under the ORCHESTRATION tab if the logged Incident/ Service Request meets the configured conditions (see: Viewing and Updating Incident Details and Viewing/Updating Service Request Details_SRM).
