Configuring Master Settings

You can configure common network settings for a group of Network devices or Links at the same time. You can also specify/modify their Threshold values. You can de-activate one or more devices that are not in use. These inactive devices are not displayed in any of the views.

To configure master settings:

  1. Select Operations > Configuration > General > Master Settings.
  2. On the MASTER SETTINGS page, click the Filters icon and select the Tenant, Device Type and other required details. Click SUBMIT. For more information about fields on the Filters popup, see Filters.
  3. Fill the required fields in the MASTER SETTINGS page. For more information about fields on the MASTER SETTINGS page, see Field Description.
  4. Click SUBMIT. The master settings configuration is saved.

    Field Description

    The following table describes the fields on the MASTER SETTINGS page:

    DEVICES

    Available devices

    Lists the available devices under the selected entity. Select the devices for which you want to configure the master settings and click   icon. To select all the devices in the available list, click the check box in the header row of the list. The selected devices are shown in the Selected devices list.

    Selected devices

    Lists the selected devices. To remove devices from the list, select the check box corresponding to the devices and click  icon. To remove all the devices from the Selected devices list, select the check box in the header row of the list.

    CONFIGURATION DETAILS

    Service Entitlement

    Lists the configured Service Entitlements. Select a Service Entitlement from the list box. For information about Service Entitlements, see Configuring Service Entitlements.

    SNMP Version

    Lists the configured SNMP Versions. Select a SNMP Version from the list.

    Vendor

    Lists the configured Vendors. Select a Vendor from the list.

    SNMP String

    Type in the SNMP string that is provided by the network operator.

    Customer

    Lists the configured Customers. Select a Customer from the list.

    SNMP Auth Type

    Lists the configured SNMP Auth Types. Select an SNMP Auth Type from the list.

    Location

    Lists the configured Locations. Select the Location from the list.

    SNMP User

    Lists the configured SNMP Users. Select the SNMP User from the list.

    OS Type

    Lists the configured Operating System types. Select the appropriate OS type from the list.

    Authentication Mode

    Select the Authentication Mode from the list.

    Criticality

    Lists the configured Criticality values. Select the Criticality as Low, Medium, or High.

    Privilege Password

    Specify the Privilege Password in the text box.

    Monitoring Source

    Lists the configured monitoring source types.

    • Summit Server: It refers to the machine, where SUMMIT Server is installed. Select this option to perform the monitoring operation from this Server.
    • Proxy Agent: It refers to the machine configured at a client location for sending monitored data of the client machines to the SUMMIT Server. Select this option to perform the monitoring operation from this Server.

    Privilege Protocol

    Lists the Privilege Protocols. Select the Privilege Protocol from the list.

    Monitoring Proxy

    Select the Monitoring Proxy from the list.

    SNMP Port

    Specify the SNMP port.

    Ping Protocol

    Lists the Ping Protocols. Select the Ping Protocol to communicate with the devices.

    Ping Timeout

    Type in the Ping Timeout for the device. In the specified time the device checks the destination IP address and records the result.

    Ping Retry

    Type in the Ping Retry number. The Ping Retry number indicates that the device would try to communicate after the specified number of times.

    E-Mail To

    Type in the e-mail address of the people to whom the alert/ notification e-mails, about the device status need to be sent in “To” list.

    • Alert Mail: The alert e-mail is sent whenever a device is down or whenever a device has crossed the threshold.
    • Notification Mail: The notification mail is sent whenever a device status changes to up from down and also when the device utilization is below the specified threshold.

    E-Mail CC

    Type in the e-mail address of the people to whom the alert/ notification

    e-mails, about the device status, need to be sent in “CC” list.

    Active

    Indicates the status set for the devices.

    • If selected, the device can be selected to be displayed in a view.
    • If not selected, the device cannot be selected to be displayed in a view.

    BACKUP CONFIGURATION DETAILS

    Ignore

    Select from the drop down, if the values in the fields should be updated or ignored during configuration.

    Back Up

    If selected, you can specify user details, who can take the backup configuration details.

    User Name

    Type in the User Name of the user whom you want to take the backup configuration details.

    Password

    Type in the password.

    Enable Password

    Type in the alternate password provided by the network operator.

    Protocol

    Lists the Protocol using which the user can take the backup. Select the Protocol from the list.

    Note: If you select Ignore in the Ignore drop down, this field value is not changed during the configuration.

    Port

    Displays the configured Port number for the selected protocol.

    CONFIGURATION THRESHOLD DETAILS

    CPU Threshold (High)

    Specify the high CPU threshold value of the devices.

    CPU Threshold (Medium)

    Specify the medium CPU threshold value of the devices.

    CPU Threshold (Low)

    Specify the low CPU threshold value of the devices.

    Memory Threshold (High)

    Specify the high Memory threshold value of the devices.

    Memory Threshold (Medium)

    Specify the medium Memory threshold value of the devices.

    Memory Threshold (Low)

    Specify the low Memory threshold value of the devices.

    UDP

    IPSLA RTT

    Specify the maximum Round Trip Time (RTT) for UDP protocol.

    IPSLA Packet Out of Sequence

    Specify the maximum number of packets received that are out of sequence for UDP protocol.

    IPSLA PacketLoss SD

    Specify the maximum packet loss of data from source to destination for UDP protocol.

    IPSLA PacketLoss DS

    Specify the maximum packet loss of data from destination to source for UDP protocol.

    IPSLA Packet MIA Loss

    Specify the maximum packets Missing in Action (MIA) loss for UDP protocol.

    IPSLA Packet Late Arrival

    Specify the maximum packets for late arrival for UDP protocol.

    IPSLA Jitter Positive SD

    Specify the maximum positive jitters from source to destination for UDP protocol.

    IPSLA Jitter Negative SD

    Specify the maximum negative jitters from source to destination for UDP protocol.

    IPSLA Jitter Positive DS

    Specify the maximum positive jitters from destination to source for UDP protocol.

    IPSLA Jitter Negative DS

    Specify the maximum negative jitters from destination to source for UDP protocol.

    IPSLA Latency Oneway SD

    Specify the maximum latency one way from source to destination for UDP protocol.

    IPSLA Voice Score MOS

    Specify the maximum voice Mean Opinion Score (MOS) for UDP protocol.

    Specify the maximum voice score Impairment Calculated Planning Impairment Factor(ICPIF )for UDP protocol.

    Specify the maximum RTT for path jitter protocol.

    IPSLA Jitter Positive SD

    Specify the maximum positive jitters from source to destination for path jitter protocol.

    IPSLA PacketLoss SD

    Specify the maximum packet loss of data from source to destination for path jitter protocol.

    IPSLA Packet Out of Sequence

    Specify the maximum number of packets received that are out of sequence for path jitter protocol.

    IPSLA Packet MIA Loss

    Specify the maximum packets Missing in Action (MIA) loss for path jitter protocol.

    ICMP

    IPSLA RTT

    Specify the maximum RTT for IPSLA protocol.

    IP SLA CONFIGURATION DETAILS

    Ignore

    Select from the drop down, if the ignore is selected then this IPSLA configuration details are ignored and if update is selected then the IPSLA configuration details are updated.

    IP SLAs

    Select this check box to include IP SLA

    UDP

    Select this check box to enable UDP protocol for IPSLA.

    Path Jitter

    Select this check box to enable path jitter protocol for IPSLA.

    ICMP

    Select this check box to enable ICMP for IPSLA.

    User

    Specify the device credentials.

    Operational ID

    Specify the operational ID for the corresponding protocol.

Filters

Click the Filters icon to specify a particular filter criteria to display the selected Entity. Based on the value selected in the Entity list, the FILTERS pop-up page displays the various filter options to list the available Entity type. The following FILTERS pop-up page is displayed if the Entity is selected as Network Device. Select the required filter options and click SUBMIT.

The following table describes the fields on the FILTERS pop-up page:

Field

Description

Tenant

Lists all the configured Tenants. Select a Tenant from the list.

Device Type

Lists the configured device types. Select the device type from the list. The following fields are displayed if the device is selected as Network device.

Device Type

Lists the configured Network devices.

Service Entitlement

Lists the configured Service Entitlements. Select the Service Entitlement option from the list.

IP Address

Specify the IP Address of the device.

Vendor

Lists the configured Vendors. Select the Vendor from the list to display the devices for the selected Vendor.

SNMP String

Specify the SNMP string.

Location

Lists the configured Locations. Select the Location from the list to view the devices for the selected Location.

Customer

Lists the configured Customers. Select the Customer from the list to view the devices for the selected Customer.

OS Type

Lists the configured Operating Systems. Select the appropriate OS type from the list to view the devices.

Criticality

Lists the configured Criticalities. Select the Criticality from the list.

Monitoring Source

Lists the configured monitoring source types. Select the Monitoring Source from the list.

  • Summit Server: It refers to the machine, where SUMMIT Server is installed. Select this option to perform the monitoring operation from this Server.
  • Proxy Agent: It refers to the machine configured at a client location for sending monitored data of the client machines to the SUMMIT Server. Select this option to perform the monitoring operation from this Server.

Ping Protocol

Lists the Ping Protocols. Select the Ping Protocol from the list.

Monitoring Proxy

Select the Monitoring Proxy from the list.

E-Mail To

Specify the e-mail address to view the devices where the  the alert/ notification e-mails are sent to the specified e-mail address in the To list

E-Mail CC

Specify the e-mail address to view the devices where the  the alert/ notification e-mails are sent to the specified e-mail address in the CC list.

Active

Indicates the status set for the devices.

  • If selected, displays the active devices.
  • If not selected, the active and inactive both the types of devices are displayed.
