Now, a larger number of Access Points can be discovered and monitored through a Wireless LAN Controller (WLC) device. SNMP is used to collect all the data related to WLC and Access points. The following parameters can be monitored for the discovered WLC device:

  • WLC
    • Access Points
    • Number of Access Points
    • Number of Clients Per WLC
  • Access Points
    • Number of Clients Per Access Point

Business Benefit

Monitoring Access Points through a WLC device reduces the tedious task of enabling/maintaining SNMP access for all the Access Points. 

Configuration

  1. Discover the WLC network device and its Access Points by configuring on the DISCOVERY page. For more information, see Discovery Configuration.
  2. Add the discovered WLC device for monitoring. For more information, see Creating Views from Drawing Board.
  3. Configure the vendor-specific MIB OID of the discovered WLC device to monitor the parameters. For more information, see Configuring Vendor MIBs.
  4. On the PERFORMANCE DASHBOARD page (Operations > User > Servers > Performance Dashboard), select the Device Type as Network Device and Category as WLC.
