Invalid MAC Address Exclusion List
What's New?
Now, the user can add an invalid MAC Address to the exclusion list on the INVALID SERIAL NUMBER/MAC ADDRESS pop-up page.
MAC Address stands for Media Access Control. It is a hardware identification number that uniquely identifies each device on a network. While discovering machine details, if the discovered MAC Address value matches the string listed on the INVALID SERIAL NUMBER/MAC ADDRESS pop-up page, the application ignores MAC Address as a unique identifier.
For example, sometimes, due to invalid or duplicate MAC Addresses, the single machine is getting identified during the discovery process. To prevent this, such MAC Addresses are added to the exclusion list.
Scenarios for Invalid MAC Address
Sometimes when the machine has invalid Serial Number, then MAC Address will be considered as next unique identifier of the machine. During this process, machines are discovered and identified with a Virtual Adapter MAC Address instead of the actual MAC Address. In such cases, those virtual Adapter MAC Addresses can be excluded, and other MAC Address of that machine will be identified as a unique identifier.
UI Change
Two new fields, the Field Type and Field Value are added on the INVALID SERIAL NUMBER/MAC ADDRESS pop-up page. For more information, see Updating Invalid Serial Number.
