Configuring Local Password Management

The Dynamic Local Admin Password Management is about the Local Admin Account passwords in Microsoft Windows Operation System (Windows 7 and Windows 10) on laptops and desktops can be managed using this functionality.  The local Admin accounts password is unique across the enterprise. If any user wants to access the Local Admin Account of the identified system, they go to a designated portal and provide the required IP Address or Host Name. If they give the correct details, they can view the password using which they can access the identified system. The Local Admin Password is reset automatically based on the frequency configured in the SummitAI platform.

To configure Dynamic Local Admin Password Management

  1. Select Asset > Configuration > Others > Local Password Management.
  2. On the LOCAL PASSWORD MANAGEMENT page, under the DOMAIN NAME tab, fill in the required details to configure the Domain. For more information about fields on the DOMAIN NAME tab, see Field Description.

  3. Click SUBMIT. A new Domain is configured.
  4. Under the USER ACCOUNT WITH DOMAIN tab, fill in the required details to associate a User Account with the Domain Name (see: Field Description).

  5. Click SUBMIT.

Field Description

The following table describes the fields on the LOCAL PASSWORD MANAGEMENT page:

Description

DOMAIN NAME

Tenant

Select the Tenant from the list.

Domain Name

Type in a name for the Domain.

Domain Description

Type in a description for the Domain.

Account Name

Type in a name for the Account.

Account - Group Name

Select a Account-Group Name from the list.

Allow Local Account

Select this option to configure allowed administrator local account. The other administrator accounts will be disabled.

Allowed Account(s)

Type in a list of allowed accounts.

Active

Indicates the status of the Domain.

  • If selected, the Domain is active.
  • If not selected, the Domain is inactive.

USER ACCOUNT WITH DOMAIN

Tenant

Select the Tenant from the list.

Domain Name

Select the Domain name from the list.

User Account

Select the User Account from the list to associate with the Domain.

Active

Indicates the status of the User Account with Domain configuration.

  • If selected, the configuration is active.
  • If not selected, the configuration is inactive.
