Configuring Software Package

You can configure the software that can be installed by the Asset Agent or remotely on target devices. For more information, see Software Delivery.

To configure Software:

  1. Select Asset > User > Software Delivery > Software Package. The SOFTWARE PACKAGE page is displayed.

  2. On the ACTIONS panel of the SOFTWARE PACKAGE page, click the ADD NEW.

  3. Under the DETAILS section of the SOFTWARE PACKAGE page, specify all the required information. For more information about the fields on the SOFTWARE PACKAGE page, see Field Description.

  4. Click SUBMIT. A new software is configured.

Field Description

The following table describes the fields on the SOFTWARE PACKAGE page:

Tenant

Select the Tenant from the drop-down list.

Software Type

Select the type of software you want to configure from the list.

Software

Type in the path of the software file or click Browse to select the location of the software file. Select the check box More to select the type of file from the list.

  • //: Enables you to enter the internet link of the software file to download and execute.
  • HTTP (Hypertext Transfer Protocol): Enables you to enter the file path in a HTTP format along with the proxy address port. The proxy address and the port number enables the user to get connected to the software link or location to download and execute.
    Note: Enter proxy address and port number in the “Proxy Address: Port” format. For example, “blrproxy000.symphonysv.com:8080”
  • FTP (File Transfer Protocol): Enables you to enter the file path in a FTP format along with the proxy address and port, FTP user name and FTP password, and re?enter password for the specified file to download and execute.

Arguments

Add parameters to follow while delivering the software. Click the Edit check box to edit or add new parameters.

For example: /quiet and /norestart.

  • /quiet: indicates the software to installed on the user system quietly without the user’s notice.
  • /norestart: indicates the software to be configured and ready to use without restarting the system.

Pre-Condition

Select the Add check box to select the pre?conditions from the list that appears. This option enables the system to perform the specified pre?condition tasks before executing the software. Select a value from the list and Registry Path. Select either Install Software If Already Exists or Don't Install Software If Already Exists options. Click ADD. Based on the option selected and the specified pre?conditions, the software will download and execute.

Description

Type in a brief description about the software that you are configuring.

Version

Type in the version number of the software that you are configuring.

Vendor

Select the name of the vendor from the Vendor list.

Active

Indicates the status set for the software.

  • If selected, the software is enabled and is listed on the SOFTWARE PACKAGE page as a listed software.
  • If not selected, the software becomes an inactive software and is not listed on the SOFTWARE PACKAGE page as a listed software . To view the inactive software, you must select the Include Inactive check box.

ACTIONS

This section explains all the icons displayed on the ACTIONS panel of the SOFTWARE PACKAGE page.

SHOW LIST

Click SHOW LIST to display the LIST table showing all the configured software.

  • To edit a software, click the configured Software name. Make appropriate changes and click SUBMIT.
  • To display the inactive software, click the Include Inactive check box.
  • Select the SOFTWARE TYPE from the list to display the software of specific type.

Note:

When the configured software are displayed under the LIST table, the ADD NEW action is displayed on the ACTIONS panel. Click ADD NEW to configure a new software.
