On the SCRIPT page, you can configure scripts to discover and monitor new parameters which are not monitored by default in the application. The Custom Scripts are executed on the Target Devices based on the commands in the Scripts, the Parameter values are monitored and displayed on the respective device details page.

Prerequisites

  • Ensure that the .bat file is accessible from Proxy using the Monitoring Account as the application creates a folder, SBM on the target machine and saves the .bat file in the path \\serverip\c$\SBM.
  • The Monitoring Account should have admin c$ privilege and ensure the configured monitoring account for the devices is able to remotely access path \\serverip\c$\SBM.
  • Enable the cross domain.

To configure Scripts:

  1. Select Admin > Others> Scripts.
  2. On the SCRIPT page, Select the Tenant on the Filters pop-up to view the list of configured Scripts.
  3. On the SCRIPT page, click the ADD NEW icon on the ACTIONS panel.
  4. On the SCRIPT page, specify the required details. For more information about the fields on the SCRIPT page see, Field Description.
  5. Click SUBMIT.

Field Description

The following table describes the fields on the SCRIPT page:

Description

DETAILS

Tenant

Lists the configured Tenants. Select a Tenant from the list.

Script Name

Type in the name for the script.

Target Platform

Lists the Target Platforms, such as Wintel, Non-Wintel,Network, and so on. Select a Target Platform for the execution of the script from the list.

Script Type

Lists the Script Types, such as PowerShell Script, DOS command. Select a Script Type for the Script from the list.

Note: The list of Script Types are displayed based on the selected Target Platform.

Script Commands

Type in the Script commands.

Number of Arguments

Displays the total number of arguments configured for the script.

Argument Name

Type in the name of the argument.

Description

Type in the description of the argument.

Mandatory

Select the check box to make the corresponding argument mandatory.

Actions

Click the icon to add another row of arguments.

Edit icon

Click the icon to edit the row of arguments.

Delete icon

Click the icon to delete the row of arguments.

Use Formula Output

Select the check box to use formula method for output.

Active

Indicates the status for the Scripts.

  • If selected, the configured Script is active.
  • If cleared, the configured Script is inactive.

Content Parser

This section allows you to configure the parser details.

Content Type

Select the content type from the list:

  • Line
  • Free Form

Output Type

Select the output type from the list:

  • Single Value: Select the option if the output is a single line text.
  • Multiple Value: Select the option if the output is multiple line text.

Line Delimiter

The Line Delimiter is a character, which indicates the start of a new line for a character. The text in the output starts from a new line after the specified line delimiter.

Lists the configured line delimiter. Select the line delimiter from the list. By default, New Line option is selected. If you select Others, type in the character that has to be considered as a line delimiter in the text box.

This field is displayed if the Content Type is selected as Line.

Key Delimiter

The Key Delimiter is a character that separates the User-defined key and the other text in the output.

Lists the configured Key Delimiter. Select the Key Delimiter from the list. By default, Colon option is selected. If you select Others, type in the character that has to be considered as a Key Delimiter in the text box.

This field is displayed if the Content Type is selected as Line.

Preceding Text

Specify the preceding text for the selected output type.
This field is displayed if the Content Type is selected as Free Form.

Succeeding Text

Specify the succeeding text for the selected output type.
This field is displayed if the Content Type is selected as Free Form.

Occurrence

Specify the occurrence of the specified preceding and succeeding text or Line delimiter and key delimiter.

Defined Key

Specify a defined key for the output. This user defined key stores the value for the parsing details.

Final Output

Select the check box if the corresponding row of parsing output is the final output.

Parent Key

Specify a Parent Key for the output.
By default, the first Parent Key value is Null and if there are multiple configured parser details,the previous configuration details' defined key's value is displayed as the Parent Key for the current configuration.

Add

Click the Add button to add another row of content parser details.

Edit

Click the Edit icon to edit the row of configured content parser details.

Delete

Click the Delete icon to delete the row of configured content parser.

OUTPUT FORMULA

Defined Keys

Displays the defined keys for the script. Select the defined key that you want to add to the formula.

Delimiters

Displays the list of Delimiters such as @ Current time, @ Previous Count, @ Previous Time, and so on. Select the delimiter which you want to add to the formula.  The values of the delimiters are auto-calculated.

Formula  Area

Enter the components of the formula by selecting the delimiters, and defined keys for the formula. Type in the arithmetic symbols for the formula.

ACTIONS

This section explains all the icons displayed on the ACTIONS panel of the SCRIPT page:

Filters

Click the Filters icon to specify a particular filter criteria to display the configured Scripts. On clicking the Filters icon, the FILTERS pop-up page is displayed. Select the Tenant, Script Type and Target Platform. Click SUBMIT.

SHOW LIST

Click SHOW LIST to display the LIST table showing all the configured Scripts for the selected filter criteria.

  • To modify a Script, click the configured Script Name. Make appropriate changes and click SUBMIT.
  • Click the Include Inactive check box to view the inactive Scripts.

Note:

When the configured Script are displayed under the LIST table, the ADD NEW action and Filters are displayed on the ACTIONS panel. Click ADD NEW to configure a new Script.

THRESHOLDS

Click the THRESHOLDS icon to configure the threshold values for the parameter. On clicking the THRESHOLD icon, the CONFIGURE SCRIPT/SNMP THRESHOLD page is displayed.  For more information about configuring Script/SNMP threshold see SummitAI IT Operations Management Online Help.

SCHEDULE JOB

Click the SCHEDULE JOB icon to configure custom scheduler details for a Script. On clicking the SCHEDULE JOB icon, the CUSTOM SCHEDULER SCRIPT/SNMP page is displayed. For more information about configuring Custom Scheduler (Script) see, SummitAI IT Operations Management Online Help.

PARAMETERS

Click the PARAMETERS icon to configure the mapping of Script to a device type. On clicking the PARAMETERS icon, the SCRIPT BASED MONITORING page is displayed.

SERVICE ENTITLEMENT

Click the SERVICE ENTITLEMENT icon to add parameters for monitoring. On clicking the SERVICE ENTITLEMENT icon, the SERVICE ENTITLEMENT page is displayed. For more information about configuring Service Entitlement see, SummitAI IT Operations Management Online Help.
