What is a License?

A License is a unique login id or e-mail id using which a user with Admin, Analyst, or End User access can log into the SummitAI application.

Types of Licenses

Licenses can be of two types: Named and Concurrent.

Named Licenses

A unique login id/e-mail id with Analyst role is considered as a Named User license. The customers cannot create Analyst records in the SummitAI application beyond the number of licenses purchased.

Concurrent Licenses

Any number of Analysts can be created in the SummitAI application. However, the number of Analysts who can access the SummitAI application at any given time (concurrently) is limited to the number of Concurrent Analyst licenses purchased. If all the available Concurrent Analyst licenses are consumed at any point of time, an Analyst can still access the Application with End User access.

How to raise a License Request?

For more details on how and where to raise a License Request, refer the Summit License Request Guide.

Organization Structure

Following is a typical organization structure for possible licensing scenarios:

Figure: Organization Structure

The organization comprises 3 Domains: D1, D2, and D3

  • Domain D1 comprises 2 Tenants: T1 and T2
  • Tenant T1 comprises 3 Workgroups: WG1, WG2, and WG3
  • Workgroup 1 comprises 2 Sub Workgroups: SWG1 and SWG2 and Workgroup 3 comprises 1 Sub Workgroup as SWG3

  • Domain D2 comprises 1 Tenant: T3
  • Tenant T3 comprises 2 Workgroups: WG 6, WG 7
  • Workgroup 6 comprises 1 Sub Workgroup as SWG4

  • Domain D3 comprises 1 Tenant: T4
  • Tenant T4 comprises 1 Workgroup: WG 8
  • Workgroup 8 has no Sub Workgroups

Concurrent Licensing Scenarios

Scenario 1 - Concurrent Licenses are Allocated to 1 Domain Only

The organization has purchased 10 licenses. Out of 10, 4 licenses are allocated to Domain 1. See the details in the following table:

Consume from License Pool = FALSE

Example

1

The Analysts of Domain 1 can access a maximum of 4 Concurrent licenses.

Any 4 Analysts among A1 to A9 can log in or access the Application at a time.

2

The Analysts of Domain 2 and 3 can access the remaining 6 Concurrent licenses available in the "License Pool".

Any 6 Analysts among A10 to A17 can log in or access the Application at a time.

Case B

Consume from License Pool = TRUE

Example

1

The Analysts of Domain 1 can utilize 4 Concurrent licenses allocated to them. However, if all the 4 licenses are consumed, the licenses available in the License Pool can be utilized by the Analysts of Domain 1.

Let's consider Analysts A1 to A4 have already logged into the Application. That means, 4 Concurrent licenses are already consumed. The other Analysts of Domain 1 can log in or access the Application by using the licenses available in the License Pool.

2

The Analysts of Domain 2 and 3 can access the Concurrent licenses available in the License Pool.

Analysts A10 to A17 can log in or access the Application based on the licenses available in the License Pool.

Note:

Consume from license pool is a key in a configured file. The key can be set to True or False.

3

No. of licenses for Tenant 3 = Workgroup 6 + Workgroup 7  = 2 + 2 = 4

4

No. of licenses for Tenant 4 = Workgroup 8 = 2

No. of Licenses at Domain level = Sum of licenses applied at Tenant level

1

No. of licenses for Domain 1 = Tenant 1 + Tenant 2 = 8 + 5 = 13

Case A

Consume from License Pool = FALSE

Example

1

Analysts belonging to Workgroup 1 can access maximum of 3 Concurrent licenses

Let us consider A2, A3, and A4 have logged into the Application. That means, 3 Concurrent licenses of Workgroup 1 are utilized.

2

Analysts belonging to Workgroup 4 can access maximum of 2 Concurrent licenses

Let us consider A14 has logged in to the application. That means, 1 concurrent license from Workgroup 4 is utilized.

From the above example, looks like Analyst A1 (belonging to Workgroup 1) cannot access the Application because 3 Concurrent licenses of Workgroup 1 are already utilized, and no 4th Analyst can log in.

But, at the same time, please note that Analyst A1 also belongs to Workgroup 4. And, Workgroup 4 has only 1 Concurrent license being utilized. That means, 1 more Concurrent license is available.

Hence, the conclusion is that Analyst A1 can still log into the Application by leveraging on the Concurrent license available in Workgroup 4.

2Analysts belonging to Workgroup 4 can access maximum of 4 Concurrent licensesLet us consider A14 has logged into the Application. That means, 1 concurrent license from Workgroup 4 is utilized.

From the above example, looks like Analyst A1 (belonging to Sub Workgroup 1) can access the Application by utilizing the 1 Concurrent license available in Sub Workgroup 1.

But, at the same time, please note that Analyst A1 also belongs to Workgroup 4. And, Workgroup 4 has only 1 Concurrent license being utilized. That means, 3 more Concurrent licenses are available.
