As a part of the Discovery report UI/UX improvements, following UI capabilities are added:  

  • Provision to fetch Template name and updated Discovery date for captured devices using two new columns: Template Name and Last Updated added to Discovery Report page.  
  • Enhanced search ability of Discovery jobs using the new free text job search field in the Discovery List page. 
  • Added a new pagination option on the Discovery List page, to provide better navigation if the number of records per page increases.
  • Easily identify jobs based on last or next run, by using the new sort capability for Discovery jobs on the Discovery list page.
  • Restrict analyst by disabling actions such as editing, re-running, deleting jobs, so that existing jobs that are already running, cannot be modified.   

How is SummitAI implementing it?  

 In the Discovery module, analyst can add the following functionality:  

  • View the job template name and last updated date for the discovered device from the list. 
  • Customize the number of Discovery records per page.
  • Search and locate specific jobs from the list.
  • Refresh the job, sort, and identify its status from the list (work in progress or completed).

Viewing the job Template Name and Last Updated date and time on the Discovery page 

To view the Template Name and Last Updated columns, perform the following steps: 

  1. Navigate to Admin > Discovery &Monitoring > Discovery.  

  2. Select the tenant from the FILTERS on the ACTION panel and click SUBMIT. The Discovery LIST page gets displayed as shown in the screenshot.

  3. Click the icon under the View Data column. The JOB DETAILS page appears as shown below.

  4. Navigate to reports page by clicking Tabular View icon to view the details of Discovered IPs.

    The screenshot follows shows the details of discovered IPs.

  5. Click any IP address to view the hardware, software and additional details. The page displays the attributes of the discovered device
    (Template Name and Last Updated column).

Searching the job by free text 

You can search for any specific job by entering text using the search box. It searches the details of the specific entry from the grid view list. 

The free text search box searches the job only on the current page.


To search the job name, perform the following steps:

  1. Navigate to Admin > Discovery &Monitoring > Discovery.

  2. Select the tenant from the FILTERS on the ACTION panel and click SUBMIT. The Discovery LIST page displays as shown in the screenshot.

  3. Type the job name under the Search field. For example, if you are searching by job name under the search box, then the following screenshot gets displayed.

Viewing the Discovery Pagination option 

You can view the Discovery records using the Records Per Page drop-down list and also navigate to the other pages by clicking on the page numbers on the grid list. This option increases the visibility of the Discovery records on a page.

To view the Discovery records per page, perform the following steps:

  1. Navigate to Admin > Discovery &Monitoring > Discovery.

  2. Select the tenant from the FILTERS on the ACTION panel and click SUBMIT. The Discovery LIST page displays as shown in the screenshot.

  3. Select the number of records to be displayed from the Records Per Page drop-down list.

          Based on the record count selected from the drop-down list, the LIST page displays a list of the Discovery records. 


Refreshing the Discovery job and checking their status

You can refresh all the Discovery jobs, check their status, and locate the currently running jobs from the Discovery List page. The Discovery job automatically gets sorted in descending order based on the last run activity under the DISCOVERY page. 

To refresh the Discovery job, perform the following steps: 

  1. Navigate to Admin > Discovery &Monitoring > Discovery.

  2. Select the tenant from the FILTERS on the ACTION panel and click SUBMIT. The Discovery LIST page displays as shown in the screenshot.

  3. Click REFRESH JOBS on the ACTIONS panel to refresh and know its status.

    Based on the latest run activity under the DISCOVERY tab, the discovery job is automatically arranged in descending order.

Auto - disabling the Discovery page actions for active jobs 

For all jobs which are in Not Started and In-Progress status, Discovery list page actions gets disabled automatically. 
 
To view this action, perform the following steps: 

  1. Navigate to Admin > Discovery &Monitoring > Discovery.

  2. Select the tenant from the FILTERS on the ACTION panel and click SUBMIT. The Discovery LIST page displays as shown in the screenshot.

  3. On the Actions column, click the re-run icon  for a specific job. A pop-up message gets displayed as shown in the screenshot.

    If you hover the mouse on the jobs which are in Not Started or In-Progress status, the following message gets displayed as shown:

    Note

    • If the job is in Not Started status, Discovery activity get disabled for initial two minutes and then it waits for extra two minutes before starting the auto enable.
    • If it is In-Progress status, it disables the control for 30 minutes. 
    • If it is more than 30 minutes, you can enable action control for the Discovery activity (You can re-run, edit, pre-requisite, delete the job).
    • For recurring or scheduled jobs, Discovery activity get disabled before one minute from the run time of the scheduled job.
    • If the job is in In-Progress or Not Started, you can view the data and clone the job. 
    • If the job is in Completed status, then you can edit or delete the job.
