Importing Configuration Items_CMDB

You can create multiple CIs by the Importing the values from a spreadsheet.
To create multiple CIs:
- Click CMDB > User > Import Configuration Items. The IMPORT CONFIGURATION ITEMS page is displayed.

- Select Add from the Import Type drop-down list.
Select Update from the Import Type drop-down list. The Update option is available only when the Edit CIs Without CR check box is enabled on the TENANT page.

During the bulk update:
- If the Unique Field value is the Configuration Item ID and the CI ID does not exist in the CMDB, then the record gets discarded.
- If the Unique Field value is the Device/Host Name or Serial No and there exists the same Device/Host Name or Serial No for the other CI ID in CMDB, then the record gets discarded.
- Select the required Unique Field name in the Unique Field drop-down list that contains the values IP Address, Configuration Item ID, Device/Host Name, or Serial No.
- For the Classification field, click the SEARCH icon and select the Classification from the list.
Click DOWNLOAD CMDB IMPORT TEMPLATE icon on the ACTIONS panel. A Microsoft Excel sheet is downloaded to your system. The Excel sheet has specific name and columns. The name and configuration of the spreadsheet depends on the option selected in the Classification field. Update the required data in the spreadsheet and save it.
Note:
The DOWNLOAD CMDB IMPORT TEMPLATE is displayed on the ACTIONS panel after the Classification is selected.
Click icon in the Source field to upload the saved spreadsheet and click SUBMIT.
- Click the link on the Select column. You are navigated to the MAP COLUMNS tab where you can map the Source and Destination fields.
- Click NEXT. You are navigated to the UPLOAD MASTER tab where you can preview the values of the Excel sheet.
- Click BULK UPDATE to create new CIs with values as entered in the spreadsheet. If there are multiple entries in the Excel sheet, you can check the Discard check box to exclude the selected entries from being created as new CIs.
