Configuring Patches

The selected root page could not be found.

The Administrators need to specify the Proxy server details from which the Patches need to be downloaded, specify the Admin account details, specify the file path to check the Patch list and the file location for getting the missing Patch details.

Prerequisite

Make sure that the Windows Update service is always enabled at target machine.

To configure Patches:

  1. Select Asset > Configuration > Patch Management > Configuration.

  2. On the PATCHES CONFIGURATION page, select the Proxy server and the Tenant. Provide details for all the required fields as described in Field Description. Click SUBMIT.

  3. The Patch configuration is saved.

Field Description

The following table describes the fields on the PATCHES CONFIGURATION page:

Tenant

Select the Tenant for which the Patch configuration is done.

Regional Proxy

Select the Regional Proxy Server. The approved Patches are downloaded from the selected Master Proxy Server. Only relevant patches are downloaded, i.e. the patches which are required by its reporting endpoints, and overall system or network performance is optimized.

Note: 

A Regional Proxy is a proxy for a particular geographic location. While downloading the patches, the application downloads the patches that are mapped to the selected location i.e., Regional Proxy only.

Master Proxy

If this check box is selected, the Regional Proxy is considered as the Master Proxy, and all the approved Patches in the system are downloaded to Master Proxy server.

Parent Proxy

This mandatory field is displayed only when the Master Proxy checkbox is not selected. Select a Parent Proxy. The Parent Proxy downloads all the approved patches.

ADMINISTRATOR INFORMATION

Admin User

Specify the Admin user details.
Specify the Admin user details to install the patches with specific account privileges. If not done, the agents install the patches with Local System account.

Password

Specify the Admin password.

SERVER INFORMATION

Offline CAB Location

Specify the Offline CAB location where the Agents can download the CAB file to scan missing Patches. You can provide UNC (shared) path or http/https path, as mentioned below:

http/https:

For example: https://10.0.0.0/SummitProxyService/Data/CABOfflineDownload/

Note: If this configuration is missing, the assets from the asset group become listed under no status criteria.

File Store Location

Specify the file store location. The Agents get Patch information to download and install the missing Patches from the file store location. You can provide UNC (shared) path or http/https path.

OTHER CONFIGURATIONS

Resume Downloading

If selected, the application resumes downloading the remaining content from where it was interpreted for both patch and CAB files.

Bandwidth Limit (kbps)

If selected, you can specify the bandwidth limit in kbps to download the patch and CAB files. If it is not selected, the application downloads the patch and CAB files using maximum bandwidth.

Note

  • If the Master Proxy check box is selected, the selected Regional Proxy is considered as the master Proxy, and all the approved Patches mapped to that Regional Proxy are downloaded. If the Master Proxy check box is not selected, a new mandatory field Parent Proxy is displayed where the Administrator has to specify the parent proxy. All the approved Patches that are required by the SAM Agent are downloaded by the selected Parent Proxy server.
  • An alert message displays when a Parent Proxy becomes a Child Proxy. If the user clicks OK, all the previously linked Child Proxies with the Parent gets removed from the hierarchy.

    For example, let's c
    onsider Proxy1 as the Parent Proxy and Washington P1 and California P1 as Child proxies. On changing the Parent Proxy is to US P1 and Child Proxy as Proxy1, the previously linked Child Proxies Washington P1 and California P1 are removed from the hierarchy and listed in the Parent Proxy drop-down list.

ACTIONS

This section explains all the icons displayed on the ACTIONS panel of the CONFIGURATION page:

SHOW REPOSITORY SYNC DETAILS 

Click SHOW REPOSITORY SYNC DETAILS  to display the Patch schema sync details. Job Name, Start Time, End Time,Duration and Status will is displayed.

VIEW LIST 

Click VIEW LIST to view list of Proxies configured.You can ENABLE or DISABLE the Proxies by selecting the Proxy from the list.

DOWNLOAD CAB 

Click DOWNLOAD CAB to download the CAB files from the internet. 

SHOW OFFLINE CAB DETAILS

Click SHOW OFFLINE CAB DETAILS to view the list of CAB files by proxy and downloaded details ,and to RESCHEDULE DOWNLOAD

PATCH DETAILS BY PROXY

PATCH DETAILS BY PROXY  allows you to view the list the Patches by proxy and to RESCHEDULE DOWNLOAD FOR SELECTED PROXY or RESCHEDULE DOWNLOAD FOR ALL PROXIES.
