You can update multiple Services using the Service Import Template. A unique field with options – Service Name and Service ID is enabled. Unique field is mandatory and this criteria will update the existing service in the application. 

To Update Services: 

  1. Click CMDB > User > Manage Configuration Items > Import > Import Service.  

      2. In the General tab, select the required Tenant in the Tenant drop-down list.  

Note

  • DOWNLOAD SERVICE IMPORT TEMPLATE is enabled in ACTIONS Panel only when the Tenant is selected. An Excel sheet is downloaded to your system. The Excel sheet has specific name and columns. If CI ID is selected in CI Linking field, the excel sheet template values must be “|” separated. If in CI Linking field IP Address, Device/Host Name, or Serial Number is selected then the values must be comma “,” separated. Update the required data in the spreadsheet and save it. 
  • DOWNLOAD GET DATA TEMPLATE is enabled in the ACTIONS Panel only when the Tenant is selected. This excel sheet will contain all existing data in the application for selected Tenant. This template makes it easy to update the Services as the template will contain all existing data. You can update the required data in the excel and upload.  

   3.Click SUBMIT. A table listing uploaded Services sheet is displayed. Select the sheet to import the Services. For information about      the fields under the GENERAL tab, see  Field Description in  Importing Services

Note

During the bulk update, the services which should be updated must exist in the application: 

  • If the Unique Field value is the Service Name and that Service Name does not exist in the CMDB, then the record gets discarded, and an error message is displayed. This is a mandatory field. 
  • If the Unique Field value is the Service ID and that Service ID does not exist, then the record gets discarded. This is a mandatory field. 

  4. A table listing mapped data from the template in the Source field and the attributes in the Destination field is displayed. Select the required options if not already selected. For information about the fields under the  MAPPING  tab, click NEXT.

Consider the following scenarios to know about when the services that you want to update through excel / spreadsheet will be discarded. 

Scenario 1: Consider Service with name Service 1 which is added two times in the excel sheet to be uploaded. Then both are discarded. 

Scenario 2: Consider Service with name Service 2. If Service 2 does not exist in application, then entire row is discarded from excel. This is because only if Service 2 exists in’ application it can be updated from excel. An error message “Invalid Service Name” is displayed.
