Importing Services in bulk is introduced to simplify and reduce time invested in adding Services. You can create multiple Services by importing the values from a spreadsheet / Excel. You can import services by mapping CI (Configuration Items) Linking field.
To import Services:
- Click CMDB > User > Manage Configuration Items > Import > Import Service. The Import Service page is displayed.
2. In the General tab, select the required Tenant in the Tenant drop-down list.
Notes
- DOWNLOAD SERVICE IMPORT TEMPLATE is enabled in ACTIONS Panel only when the Tenant is selected. A Microsoft Excel sheet is downloaded to your system. The Excel sheet has specific names and columns. Update the required data in the spreadsheet and save it. If CI ID is selected in CI Linking field, the excel sheet template values must be “|” separated. If in CI Linking field IP Address, Device/Host Name, or Serial Number is selected then the values must be comma “,” separated.
- On implementing the License changes in the CMDB module, the Manage Configuration Items Import and Service are not visible to logged-in end users.
3. Click SUBMIT. A table listing uploaded Services sheet is displayed. Select the sheet to import the Services. For information about the fields under the GENERAL tab, see Field Description.

Note
If you want to discard Services that you do not want to import, select the appropriate check boxes in the Discard column, and then click IMPORT SERVICE. If any invalid data is present in the row the entire row will be discarded
Consider the following scenarios to know about when the services that you want to import through excel / spreadsheet will be discarded.
Scenario 1: Consider a service, Service 1 which exists in the application. If you are trying to import Service 1 through excel which is of same name, then this service - Service 1 from excel is discarded and appropriate error message is displayed.
Scenario 2: Consider a service with name Service 2 which is added two times in the excel sheet and you try to import the same. In such a case this Service 2 is imported only once.
Scenario 3: Consider a service, Service 1 with two CIs in the CI Linking field – CI 1 and CI 2. In this case, CI 1 is available in the system and CI 2 is not available in the system. Then application will import only CI 1 and will discard CI 2. This is a case of partial discard.
Scenario 4: For a service – Service 2, Consider three customers, Customer 1, Customer 2, and Customer 3. If any one of the customer names are invalid, then entire row is discarded.
