What’s New?
The Asset Categories are defined based on the Asset Type. There is a unique asset code for each category. The Summit Application will require handling multiple attributes when updating a category during the import of asset details. In the Asset Inventory, the data can be uploaded under one category and the records can be mapped to different attributes.
An Asset Category is the most critical part of Asset Life Cycle Management, as it assists in the grouping and identification of multiple assets.
The Update Category option is available on the Asset List page which enhances the update functionality and enables the category update of records.
NOTE
The Update Category option will only update Asset records within the same Asset Type.
Benefits
- Provides flexibility to change/update the asset category, in case of any wrong upload of data.
Saves time and effort as the categories can be updated within the UI, instead of conventional method of deleting the incorrect ones and reimporting the correct data.
Prerequisite
In order to have the Update Category option available on the Asset List page, the role access for the same should be enabled under the Role Template configuration.
To configure the Role Template for Update Category, perform the following steps:
- Navigate to Admin > Basic > Users > Role Template.
The Role Template List page is displayed.

- In the Asset Inventory segment, select the Update Category checkbox.
- Click SUBMIT.

IMP NOTE
The Category Mapping can be pre-configured before the operational activities are performed. To know more information, see Configure Category Mapping.
Configure Update Category
To configure the Update Category, perform the following steps:
- Navigate to Asset > User > Manage Assets > Asset Inventory.
- Select the Fixed Asset Type on the Asset Inventory page.
The Fixed Asset List page is displayed. - Select the Tenant from the drop-down, which is a mandatory field.
- Select the desired asset count hyperlink amongst Allocated, In-Store, Inactive, In-Repair, and In-Transit options.
The Fixed Asset List page is displayed for the selected asset option. - Click the Filters option from the right panel to choose the asset records to be displayed based on the selected conditions.

Select the checkbox at the top to select all the records on the current page.

The Update Category page is displayed with SELECT CATEGORY, CATEGORY MAPPING, and PREVIEW & UPDATE CATEGORY segments.NOTE
Multiple records (from various statuses and categories) can be updated at once using the Update Category option.
In the SELECT CATEGORY segment, choose the desired Destination Category from the drop-down, which is a mandatory field.
Click NEXT.

The Header at the top highlights the Asset Category which is selected and the COUNT mentions the number of records selected.
Information
The Expand/Collapse icon at the extreme right corner can be used for better visibility if there are multiple records.
Destination Category
The Destination Category drop-down displays the values of categories of the same asset type from which the records will be selected.
For Example, if the categories of Fixed assets are selected for updating, then the categories of the same asset will be displayed.
In the CATEGORY MAPPING segment, select (map) the destination category attributes against the source category attributes.
Scroll down and click MAP.
After the successful mapping, click NEXT.

The Category Mapping configured on the Category Mapping page automatically reflects the configured attributes here on the Update Category Configuration page. It is indicated with a green colored MAP icon.
Figure: Update Category- Category MappingThe Attributes can be changed/edited in this screen as per the requirement. The changes are captured and updated. This is indicated with a blue colored MAP icon. The changes updated here are automatically captured in the Category Mapping configuration page for the selected Categories.

In the PREVIEW AND UPDATE CATEGORY segment, update the unmapped attribute values. Select the desired values from the drop-down.

The Attachment field can support single or multiple attachments which can be configured in the Form Builder.

- To view the updated changes before proceeding further, select the PREVIEW option which displays a pop-up with basic column information.
After checking the preview, close the pop-up window.

The details of the Asset Category update is captured in the Asset History under Audit Trail section. It includes the information of Old and New value.

The Category mapping can be configured in the Category Mapping page separately so that the mapping is present while performing the operational activity. Head to Configure Category Mapping to know more information.
Field Description
The following table describes the fields for the FILTERS option on the ASSET MOVEMENT BETWEEN CATEGORIES page:

Tenant | Select the Tenant from the drop-down, which is a mandatory field. |
Status | Select the Status from the drop-down to view the Assets, which is a mandatory field. |
Sub Status | Enter the desired Sub Status or select it by clicking the search icon. |
Category | Select the Asset Category from the drop-down, which is a mandatory field. |
Location | Select the Location from the drop-down list to view Assets that belong to that location. Click the Search icon to select the Location. On the LOCATION pop-up page, the Locations are displayed in the tree view. Use the Expand icon or click the Location name to expand the Location tree and select the required Location. You can also search for the required Location using the Search bar. |
Search By | Select the search by criteria from the list. To specify multiple search values in the Search Value field, click the icon. The icon is displayed |
Search Value | Specify the search value for the selected Search By criteria. To search by multiple search values, specify the search values separated by comma or in new lines. |
Asset Condition | Select an Asset condition to view the list of Assets. |
Has Attachment | Select the checkbox to view the list of assets that has an attachment. |
