Software Usage Report

The Software Usage Report helps you to measure and analyze your company's software or application usage. It allows you to infer the software usage details for a specific period of time which further guides you to understand trends in software usage over time. The Software Usage report displays a tabular report on the overall Software Usage and Application Usage based on the specified Tenant, Software view by, vendor name, and so on. You can view the total number of installed Software, the used and unused Software in this report. You can also view the detailed information of used and unused softwares using the count hyperlink provided on the report.

Admin or Analyst can access the report based on access privileges assigned through roles.

 Additional Information

You can also view the detailed information of used and unused softwares using the count hyperlink provided on the report. The Unused and Used count detailed information may lead you to identify any spikes in softwares usage or the softwares which are no more business related.  With the help of Used count in the report you can understand which software or applications are gaining more attention. With the help of Unused count you can decide which software or applications are not in use at all.  It will help you to evaluate if you want to further renew the license of unused software or application.

Note:

The Software usage metering works on Windows platform with agent-based discovery and does not work on other than the Windows platform.

Steps to access Software Usage Report

To view the Software Usage report, perform the following steps:

  1. Navigate to Reports > Asset Management > Software Usage Report. 
  2. Click Filters.
    The Filters popup page is displayed.

  3. Enter or select the values for Filter fields as described in the Field Description table.

    TenantSelect the required tenant from the drop-down list. For more information, see Configuring Tenant.
    LocationSpecify the location from the Location tree hierarchy. For more information, see Configuring Location.
    Type

    Select the type of the report display. Available options are as follows:

    • Summary - Select this option if you want to view the summary of report.
    • Detail - Select this option if you want to view the detailed report.
    Vendor NameSpecify the name of the vendor.
    Software Name

    Specify the name of the software.

    Note:

    You can use % wildcard character for better search results.


    Software ListSelect the required software from the drop-down list.
    View By

    Select the required option from the drop-down list. Available options are as follows:

    • Last One Week
    • Last 30 Days
    • Last Six Months 
    • Last One Year
    • Custom
    From Date

    Specify the start date from the calendar icon

    Note:

    From Date field will be visible if View By is selected as Custom.

    To Date

    Specify the end date from the calendar icon .

    Note:

    End Date field will be visible if View By is selected as Custom.

    Include In-Store AssetsIf selected, the In-Store assets becomes mandatory to be displayed on the report.
  4. Click Submit.
    The Software Usage Report is displayed. A sample screenshot is shown below:

    The following table describes the fields on the Software Usage Report.

    SL No.Displays the serial number for records.
    Software NameDisplays the name of the software.
    Report Type

    Displays the type of the report.

    Installed Displays the count of the installed softwares. 
    Used

    Displays the count of the used softwares. Click on the count hyperlink get the detailed information of the used softwares. A sample screenshot is shown below:

    It displays the details such as Report Type, Software Name, Type (Used), Customer and Installation Count. You can further click on Installation Count hyperlink to get the details of the asset. 

    Unused

    Displays the count of the unused softwares. Click on the count hyperlink get the detailed information of the unused softwares.

    It displays the details such as Report Type, Software Name, Type (Unused), Customer and Installation Count. You can further click on Installation Count hyperlink to get the details of the asset. 


Click the Refresh Report to fetch latest details for the report. Any changes performed after the Reports page was loaded, will reflect if you click on Refresh Report .

ACTIONS

You can perform following actions from the ACTIONS panel of the Software Usage Report page.

Icon

Action

Prints the displayed report records.

Exports the displayed records on the page to a Microsoft Excel sheet.

Exports the complete list of report records to a Microsoft Excel sheet.
