The Software Files Report displays a list of Software Files available in the Asset Inventory. You can also view the Original Name, Version, Product Name, File Size and the Publisher Name of Software File. You can further drill-down the report to view the Assets where the Software Files are installed. 

Admin or Analyst can access the report based on access privileges assigned through roles.

 Additional Information

Software files can be of many types like .exe, .cpl , .msi and many more. With the help of Software File report Analysts or Admins retrieve a detailed report on Software File name and Software version. If any software needs an upgrade and information is needed on the existing software file size and version, this Software Files report is helpful.

Steps to access Software Files Report

1.Navigate to Reports > Asset Management > Software Files Report.

2.Click Filters on the Action panel to specify the filter criteria for generating the report. The criteria FILTERS pop-up appears.

3. Enter or select the values for Filter fields as described in the following table.  

Field Description 
TenantTenant is similar to department in an organization, example : Operations, IT. Select the Tenant name from the list. This is a mandatory field. For more information, see Configuring Tenants
Search By

Software search is possible by choosing any one of the following -

Product Name or File Name.

Product NameSpecify the Product Name to search. Example : Adobe Reader.
File NameSpecify the File Name to search. Example : Adobe AIR Installer.exe
PublisherThe name of the software publisher, responsible for its development and distribution. Example: Microsoft, Cisco.
File Size

There are four options to select from File Size. Select from the drop-down.


4. Click SUBMIT.

The Software Files Report is displayed.

5. Click hyperlink in column Count to view a detailed report.

Few of the fields that are present in the report are explained in the following table. 

FieldDescription
File NameThe name of the file in use.
File VersionThe current software file version being used.
File SizeThe size of the file is mentioned in KB(Kilo Bytes)
PublisherThe name of the Software file Publisher. Example: Adobe Systems.
Asset IDUnique Asset number.
Allocation StatusIs the Software File allocated or unallocated can be known by this field.

Click the Refresh Report to fetch latest details for the report. Any changes performed after the Reports page was loaded, will reflect if you click on Refresh Report 

ACTIONS

You can perform the following actions from the ACTIONS  panel of the Software Files Report page.

Prints the displayed report records. 

 

Exports the displayed records on the page to a Microsoft Excel sheet. 

 

Exports the complete list of report records to a Microsoft Excel sheet.
